1 onion chopped
3-4 cloves garlic crushed
1 inch piece of ginger crushed
1 tsp biryani masala
2-4 chicken breasts or thighs (cooked. marinated with ginger/ garlic 1TBS, 1TBS curry powder, 2TBS plain yogurt)
1-3 c 2/3 cooked basmati rice
cook marinated chicken. heat butter (or oil) add chopped onions and fry until soft. add garlic and ginger and fry again. add biryani masala (our mix is spicy, so I add just a little of the mix, about 1 tsp of cumin, 1/2 tsp coriander, 1tsp graham masala) and fry until onions are brownish but not burned. Add a cup pf water and simmer in low heat for 10 min. Add cooked meat to sauce and and simmer again for 10 min. add rice and mix and cover. heat in low for 15-20 more minutes, stirring so it does not burn.
